ABOUT PLYMOUTH ROCK LACROSSE
In 1999, a group of parents began Plymouth Rock Lacrosse, LTD, an organization dedicated to teaching their children lacrosse. PRYL has evolved into the dynamic program we enjoy today -- an organization that has introduced hundreds of children and their parents to the fast-paced and exciting game of Lacrosse.
Children learn to love a game that they can play and our organization stresses the fundamentals: catching, cradling, and throwing. We provide opportunities for boys and girls from kindergarten through the 8th grade to play as a part of the Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) and the South Shore Girls Lacrosse League. Boys in grades five through eight are eligible to participate in the Town Tournament League (TTL), a highly competitive select team league comprised of towns on the South Shore and Cape Cod. After playing for the youth program, a majority of our boys and girls go on to play for the Plymouth High School lacrosse teams.
Each summer Plymouth Rock Lacrosse, in conjunction with the Plymouth Recreation Department, runs a one-week “Learn to Play” clinic for boys and girls. This program has introduced many children to the excitement of lacrosse and has added numerous members to our ranks. Entering its third season is the “Little Rocks” program for kindergarten through second grade. According to our participants, it is an overwhelming success. “Little Rocks” is a learn-to-lax program that teaches children how to catch, cradle, and throw in a friendly and fun environment. For our older players, we have expanded our program to provide opportunities beyond the traditional spring season. We introduced this year “Plymouth Fall Ball”, an eight-week program focused on skills and drills that has been very well attended. This, along with an inaugural Winter Training Season (January 2010) allows us to supplement the instruction and playing time of our athletes throughout the year.
The coaches, players, and board members of Plymouth Rock Lacrosse are committed to keeping our program strong and providing our players with the best opportunities to develop the skills needed to be successful in the youth program, high school program, and beyond. We are extremely proud that graduates of Plymouth Rock Lacrosse currently play Division I, II, and, III college lacrosse, as well as playing for nationally recognized select teams and several prominent prep schools in New England.
As we look back on our first decade, we are proud of all that we have achieved. As we look forward, we will strive to continue being one the premier lacrosse programs on the South Shore.
