PLYMOUTH ROCK YOUTH LACROSSE - GIRLS LACROSSE PROGRAM
The Plymouth Rock Youth Lacrosse Girls program is for athletes of all experience levels in grades K through 8. Our goal is to:
- Encourage competitive play while upholding the "Spirit of the Game" through mutual respect between players, adherence to the rules, respect of coaches, and the joy of playing;
- Develop our athletes into complete lacrosse players with a strong foundation in the fundamentals of the game;
- Cultivate a sense of camaraderie, trust, reliance, and encouragement among teammates and;
- Prepare our athletes for success on and off the field through leadership, dedication, education, integrity, and sportsmanship.
Fees:
Girls Program: $160 PRYL registration fee plus $30 US Lacrosse Membership fee: total $190
Uniforms are not included in the registration fee, but can be purchased in our online store.
Programs
U9 - Grades K-2. We are working with CroART Lacrosse to design the best girls Wee-Lax program possible. Athletes will learn the basic mechanical skills of cradling, and ground balls. Scrimmages with local teams will be arranged throughout the season.
League:
Plymouth Rocks Youth Lacrosse is a member of the South Shore Lacrosse League whose mission is to promote girls youth lacrosse in an environment that emphasizes safety and fun, while developing skills, teamwork, good sportsmanship, and integrity, ultimately preparing them to be able to play at the next level.
10 & U- Grades 3 & 4
League Play:
- Developmental 7 vs. 7 modified full field league with scores kept by coaches
- No player may shoot until her team has attempted or completed three passes
- No checking
- Coaches should discretely adjust play in lopsided games. For very lopsided games, it is possible to mix the teams at half time.
Athlete development:
At this level, the focus is on ground balls; cradling, throwing and catching techniques; understanding positioning and field spacing; dodging techniques; and basic defensive responsibilities.
12 & U- Grades 5 & 6
League Play:
- A competitive 12 vs. 12 full field league with scores kept by coaches
- Modified checking only
- Coaches should discretely adjust play in lopsided games. For very lopsided games, it is possible to mix the teams at half time.
Athlete development:
At this level, we build on existing skills and add focus on goalie clear plays, midfield transition plays; becoming a two-way player; communicating with teammates; maintaining possession; forcing and reducing turnovers; cutting and isolation plays; plays from X; and learning cradling tricks.
14 & U - Grades 7 & 8
League Play:
- A competitive 12 vs. 12 full field league with scores kept by coaches
- Modified checking only
- Coaches should discretely adjust play in lopsided games. For very lopsided games, it is possible to mix the teams at half time.
Athlete development:
At this level, we build on existing skills and add focus on mastering game sense; dominant and weak side stick skills; defensive footwork, positioning, pressuring, and double-teaming; off-ball movement and handling defensive pressure; long and short passing accuracy; goalie possession plays; and man-to-man, zone, and backer defenses.
